Little did we know we had created a complication for the other end of the day for the locals. We were sound asleep long after the sun rose and totally missed the hilarity of @Ian on a looped repeat of "Hey Google, lights on." He could hear poor Google doing her best - apparently there was a little click that indicated she was doing her thing .... but we had turned it off at the wall - so no luck for the early risers. Definitely a comedy skit in the making - lucky @Ian is #canuck_chilled and just laughs it off.
Love the electronic door entry - no need for keys to get back in AND it automatically locks behind you. We only needed one lesson on the door.
Have to confess that later in the day - after our little excursion - @Mac was first up the hill with the essentials and was being a gentleman and opening up the house (have i mentioned how hot it is?) I arrived at the open door, in time to hear him on a repeated loop of "Hey, Siri. Lights on," with absolutely no success. I'll let you work it out. Not sure he had the same #canuck_chill as @Ian so I gallantly interrupted his loop - and of course, success at last. What's in a name I say.
More views than he bargained for.
Mind you, it had been a morning of laughs, because "normal" life has to go on for locals - and today's normal was all about getting an exterior wall and window wash down. Pretty handy that @Mindy had her brain plugged in, because I had opened both the blind and the window in our front facing bedroom. I was woken by @Mindy closing the window so that the water wouldnt gush in from the cleaning dude - did the whole "jump and startle - there's someone in our room" hysteria and @Mac just kept on snoozing. Roles were reversed later, when the roof cleaning dude was outside the "closed windows with open blind" and @Mac was still snoozing (in his birthday suit.) Bet the dude was tempted to get right in there with his pressure hose and scrubbing brush! He certainly has a story to tell tonight
@Mindy was off to the hairdresser and @ Ian is a worker - so we were solo and after a late wake up and a slow breakfast, we were ready at 11.11 for a bus adventure. I was dressed and ready, but had the last-minute brainwave, that this will be as hot as it gets - so decided to change into the only pair of shorts I packed.
Found the bus stop only after asking for help from a couple of cyclists. @Mac was a little confused and didn't have his right-hand side of the road driving brain in and was having trouble finding the bus stop .... was scouting the wrong side of the road. Eventually the penny dropped, and we joined the ex-pat Sydney Mum, who has relocated with her family (husband and two daughters) from their home in London. Wow, truly living their best lives from wherever they want, running a business remotely. We declined her offer to escort us on bus route 10 and opted to wait for the 30 route.
Literally a 10-minute ride to downtown Whistler and we hit the Information Centre to get bus passes and some advice on being locals.
Failed to find the local travel agent - it seems it is now #Buffalo Bill's- did a circuit of the Village, getting our bearings and admiring the flowers, while trying to dodge the heat and finally settled into #La Bosca for a cold beer and a spicy pizza for lunch.
Had no trouble finding the bottle shop for essentials and piled up with our purchases headed back for the return bus ride (complete with tickets) and the short walk home.
Emboldened by EVERYONE riding bikes, we used the slightly cooler afternoon for EBike Riding 101. In my case - absolute FAIL. Despite getting my 🦵 over the frame, couldn't rotate the knee on the pedals. @Mac of course was the MASTER and was zooming up and down the cul de sac with ease. He is essential shopping ready. Need to ask if there is a 🧺 for this bike.
Making final adjustments and reminders about the right side of the road
After dinner, @Mindy made all the adjustments to the #Peloton (I even have my own profile) and I managed a start - got the knee bending and although it was just a short spin to prove that "I can" - I have my stats recorded and I can go for a PB tomorrow. (Currently sitting outside, leg raised, ice pack on ... interested to see how it pulls up tomorrow.)
More luck on the stationary bike. It all begins with the first step ... or in this case ... rotation.
The TV channel is locked and loaded and the alarm is set - we are ready to cheer on the #Matildas in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
PS: Wrote a response on Facebook in the early hours of the morning that reference "Mandi" - and somehow keep calling her - "Mac." Poor darling is already "wondering" if the old girl is losing it 😢 . Thinking "Mandi Mac" is startinng to totally "get" why I can't even think about an EBike - maybe I need to try the stationary bike tomorrow.
PPS We need a plumber. 😱 Coffee grinds do not go down the sink. Instant blockage. Rookie mistake.
