A pleasantly cooler start to the day this morning though for our walk.
Taking a reflective break - River of Golden Dreams and Whistler Mountain visible today
So many trails loop around the local sports centre and we took a little right turn and feasted on the stunning views up to #Whistler Mountain and #Blackcombe Mountain and along #The River of Golden Dreams.
We usually get annual pics from @Mindy and @Ian as they do a float on this river with lots of others - a sort of blow up toy and make shift float thing.
Need to stop worrying about the bears and start concentrating on keeping to the right on the shared trails. Was prepared to concede I had more of a chance of being hammered by one of the bikes than being crunched by the bears.
THAT WAS UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. No I am bear paranoid. Remember I threw those crumbs out last night! Well, look who visited this morning - right outside rhe porch! @Mindy says this is the FIRST bear that has visited this summer. Never ever throwing crumbs out again. Ever.
Bear stroll - right outside!
The dude on the bike at the end shows you what to do when you see a bear
Just saying, do feel a little guilty as we toddle off each day to have our fun, and we leave "the worker" behind- almost strapped to his keyboard! He is so focussed! Had to laugh, @Mindy asked on our walk if I had done the #Peloton this morning - can you imagine that? @Ian had started the day with a whole series of online meetings this morning - the #Peloton with me perched on it would have been right behind his head! Perfect background. (Opted for more private little spin later in the afternoon - continuing my streak!)
Snapped the worker as we were leaving - looks like he is locked in! He was on bear alert, plumber reception and online order delivery duties. What a guy.
We spent the day as tourists today and headed up to #Pemberton (wedding fame of 5 years ago!) Still turning up the heat for us weather wise so we didn't have the snow caps of #Mt Currie this time but the views remained spectacular.
Took a shortcut to a new estate at #Wedge for a little walk beside the creek and were momentarily very wary. There were two tents set up by the water - thought we may have been in for an "overnighter." Phew, just a couple of friends. After a month in #Africa we weren't keen to get under the canvas again.
These ladies live about 500 metres up the road - but like to sleep overnight by the river. They dash home for a shower and to cook. These Canucks love the outdoors.
Stopped at #The One Mile Lake for a stroll and a swing, took in the lookout to revisit the track of the Rocky Mountaineer (she was passing through a little further back) and had a little reminisce at the #Red Barn.
And then it was the main attraction. A visit to #Laughing Crow Organics to get lost in the sunflower maze. Tried our hand at all the alleys and with the help of @Mac's height, we're able to find our way to the swing.
Finished the visit off with a flight of beers (um, I'm the only one drinking) and then back to #Rainbow to stock up on supplies for the next few days.
Big job tonight, was to prepare the #MarsBarSlice for the "event" tomorrow night. Had to have the big knife out to swat away the "samplers" who were intent on making a dent in the chocolate.
Big N's rule - even in Canada
We say good bye to the day set up with our drinks on the porch enjoying the coolness of the evening. Enjoying this extended daylight - not dark until 9 o'clock.
Aspiring to be locals - but we did thoroughly enjoy being tourists today.
