Going hoarse from cheering

Looking for bargains at the Turkey sale - a possible for the #Fab5 cruise

It was almost a super Saturday of cheering here. We have topped and tailed our day watching a combination of #World Cup Rugby and #NFL

Up early to tune in to watch England and South Africa progress to the semi-finals before @Mindy and I left the men cheering for @Ian's currently undefeated #49ers so we could check out the "Turkey Sales" in the #Village. We strolled #The Stroll, in rainproof jackets, and despite our best efforts and visiting what felt like EVERY store, even the hardware shop, we weren't tempted by any of the "supposed" bargains. Not sure ski boots, snowboards, safety helmets and snowshoes would fit in our luggage!

Posing with the locals

Oh  and the #49ers suffered their first defeat by two points. Unheard of, they had the kick for three points to win the game in the dying seconds of the match and their kicker missed! Lots of disbelief amongst the fans. Including @Ian.

It is very cerebral watching the #NFL. For the #49ers game we were tuned in specifically to just a single game. We are at least following along now and @Mac is oohing, aaahing and groaning in similar places to @Ian now. And they are discussing strategy. He is doing well. Same for the #Giants game - for @Mindy's team - just watch a single match.

A little different from the Thanksgiving weekend - had #The Stroll almost to ourselves

But when it is "just the rest" they have a subscription to an APP called "DA ZONE." The TV screen displays multiple concurrent games - all with their own commentary. When a team is in the "red zone" meaning they have a potential to score, the focus switches, mid-sentence, to that team. It requires a real talent to make sense of multiple games playing at once.

Stay at homes - with break times between games

Big "dinner" news was that I made a potato bake! It was photographed and then that photo was sent to all and sundry creating a huge outpouring of "potato bake envy." Apparently @Mindy has talked this up for years here and it is "legendary." Did cringe a little when @Mindy invited me to use the WHOLE container of "Herb and Garlic Salt," if I wanted to! Nope, the secret is in the decadence of the cream and mixed chesses! It did not disappoint and the leftovers have been "claimed." (Laughing because they didn't even do paper scissors rock to claim it ... @Mindy was decisive in staking her ownership ot that one .... sort of like the "Chicken Twisties" really.)  I think I need to make a couple more before we go - hadn't realised it was such a winner. Onto it.

Apparently "legendary " status

PS The very sad news making the papers here is the story of an 80-year-old man who is missing. Right here in our neighbourhood of #Alpine Meadows. He does suffer from dementia and he was last seen walking with his dog #Lexi. There has been an ongoing extensive search for him - with no luck. We have noted Police in our block doing door to door searches - people have been asked to search their properties. Today, the authorities announced that the search was being discontinued.

@Mindy raised the issue of "air tags" and told us if we suffer from dementia in the future - she's tagging us. Not such a bad idea really. I wonder why we don't do it? Maybe we do have that "technology" option and I don't know about it yet because it's not contextual. All I can say is, I wish that gentleman had been wearing some sort of homing beacon. Very sad. And his faithful dog hasn't been located either - another layer of sadness. And don't even let your thoughts go to the synergies here between a missing person AND a grizzly in our neighbourhood. Tragic.

Such a. big effort in allocating resources es - I can't believe they haven't been spotted
