Friday with a flight .... of beers

Cheers from the flight deck of Whistler Brewery

Went  a little further afield today using the very last of our bus tickets for the local service. Wanted to take the #Cheakamus #10 bus further down the highway. Two reasons, check out #Cheakamus (I really wanted to say that) and it's twin #Function Junction and, more importantly, have a little turn on the bus that would bring me home from school, if my criminal history check lands in time.

That's right, criminal history check. Glad there is a process of vetting volunteers but wish I had plugged my brain in earlier and had it organised. It is an online process with the #Australian Federal Police. Fill in the boxes, scan and upload your documents, pay your money and hopefully 48 hours later you get the document you need. Fingers crossed.

The funny thing was that we totally missed the school stop on the way there and were busy asking instructions of a local for the best stop to use for #Function Junction and missed that one too!

Bus trip - might ask the kid behind us next time - he probably knew where the school was

Found ourselves at the end of the line. This was problematic because we only had two bus tickets left in our stash - and they were targeted for the ride home. We are not big carriers of cash either - I actually don't carry any - and @Mac had just a single fare's total of $2.50 in coins in his pockets. Explained our predicament to the bus driver and he said just let the bus driver behind him know - and it would be "fine." Retold our sad story to the next driver- he simply "Canuck" nodded and smiled and waved us on board - we got a little tour of the #Cheakamus residential area (was athlete accommodation for the Winter Games) and then he made sure we got off at the right stop.

That's it - one street - #Function Junction

To be honest, #Function Junction was just one street. Mostly industrial complexes and not really much action. Found a closed #Wild Wood at the end of the street along with a cafe and up along the other way was a bakery and a brewery.

Cheers from the brewery

Settled into the #Whistler Brewery for our Friday late lunch and raised our glasses to @Lloyd who has been sampling the brews around #Tasmania. It was so busy, we were lucky to score a seat. @Mac was a cider man and I went all the fruits for my flight: pineapple, orange, grapefruit and limoncello. I usually rank them and drink from least fav through to the best. Not possible here. They were all fabulous! Tacked on a serve of nachos, topped with pulled pork and advertised as "as big as your head" and we were reluctant to give up our seats at the end of the meal.

Had no trouble on the ride home. Bus stop literally outside the door of the brewery (handy) and we used our last two tickets for a very slow trip home in the ever-growing curl of Thanksgiving traffic heading up from #Vancouver.

Quite obvious now why we missed the school stop on the way down. The stops aren't paired! You would expect there to be one on this side of rhe highway amd a corresponding one on the other side. Not so. All depends on the access. If there is no adjoining road or even room for the bus to stop safely (because there is a mountain or a lake on the side of the road) - there just isn't a stop. No stop going south for the school, but there is one on the northern route - we spotted it and I will be fine - don't even have to cross the highway to get to it.

Hot drinks in the Gondola - was a bit cold!

Rounded out our Friday with a call in at the #Alpine Cafe and scored the #Gondola for our hot drinks. A short walk home, and plenty of time for daily debriefs and for hatching tomorrow's plans.

PS Yes, you were right @Mrs Rifai. The answer to that question "What do you call the person who cleans the vacuum cleaner?" was "A vacuum cleaner."
