I am not sure what we are resting and recuperating from - not like we have been working up a sweat or even raising a frown over anything! Our major responsibility for the entire day was to determine which chair we would be most comfortable in! We are no longer even the "responsible adults" - have handed over that baton to the more qualified.
Didn't help that the rain didn't let up until around 3 pm and then we made a series of excuses to avoid leaving the confines and comfort of this cosy cocoon.
@Ian was deep in concentration for his first day back at work and @Mindy was in catchup mode with @Mel getting ready for day 1 tomorrow. It was actually a #Canadian Federal Statutory Holiday here - #National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
@Mel called in for a visit and gave us an update on her recent (first) holiday to #Australia. Lots of laughs really, because total reversal of "fear" roles. Here we are, ever mindful of the dangers of life in #Canada and @Mel had a litany of dangers from #Australia. They were revealed in no particular order, but in a continuous string of possible deadly encounters - stingrays, sharks, jellyfish, ticks, crocodiles, spiders, dingoes, brown snakes, black snakes and even pythons! In some cases, these fears kept @Mel out of the water and off the hiking trails! Although seemed "unrealistic" to us, these fears were very real to @Mel.
And we can empathise. Our fears and uncertainties are equally real. Sort of funny when we raised our animal terrors from this week's headlines and @Mel was reassuring us that these enounters were "highly unlikely" and "don't worry about it."
Stories in the paper and across the news this week featured two warnings for animal alerts.
The first was the story of a couple and their dog who were attacked and killed by two grizzly bears in #Banff. I am sort of frowning at the lead to the story below. Reads as if "mauling victims" wasn't quite enough - needed to display subsequent "aggressive behavior" - really?
The second was much closer to home, with cougar sightings in our neighbourhood here at #Alpine Meadows. Trails have been closed for a month - not that we have been on any of the biking trails identified - but we do walk the pedestrian trails. Maybe another good "excuse" to stay inside on our next rainy day.
The day was over before it began. Cooked some dinner, watched some football and made some plans for the days ahead - plans that do invlolve leaving the house. Editorial rider invoked here .. must remember those wise words .... the best laid plans of mice and men ...
Flashback
Had a look at some photos from when we were here, with @Aunty Gail in 2018, for the wedding. And yes, it was October 2nd and we were walking to #Meadow Park with light snow falling - with @Aunty Gail in her intrepid $5 Kmart sneakers.
