That's interesting - an imported "Mexican coke" - no idea - but it did say "product of Mexico"
There's a chance that our ankles were fatter today than yesterday so we did WANT to commit to a bit of a walk. And feeling totally guilt ridden that we hadn't even bothered with any dinner on the last two nights and COMMITTED early to dinner prep (which we abandoned with substitutes later in the day.) I know we're not starving - but concede we are feeling lazy and can't even bother to cook. In fact, I'd be happy to confess we are all talk and no action here. Inaction was the word for the day. @Mac was the early bird, but I didn't make an appearance until closer to 10.30.
Have I mentioned how cold it is outside yet?
The apartment is absolutely toasty warm - so warm that we have turned off the heat during the day and crack open the windows and front sliding door a centimetre or two to let in a little stream of cool air. Had word from @Mindy that there is heating "under" the building in the crawl space which explains why it is so snug inside. The disadvantage here is that you never want to go outside. The clouds and rain are so low and persistent that the whole outside appearance is just one of "gloom." Acknowledging that it was "brighter" today but still that persistent drizzle. Noted also that it is the equinox today - so hours of sunlight will start to lessen as the days progress.
@Mac has renewed his battle with #Google Home and because he insists on saying "Hey Siri" he triggers his phone into responding and apologising for not completing his request, while #Google, unsummoned, remains mute. He just needs to acclimatise - I'm sure he will figure out the naming conventions "soon."
We did make a small venture out though and visited #Nester's Market and who knew it was "Taco Tuesday?" We went for a coffee - but because of "staff shortages" that were announced on a handwritten sign on the coffee shop front door - had to settle for tacos instead. A definite winner really.
Excitement for the outing really ramped up, when you understand that we snaffled TWO packets of #MINT OREOS from #Nesters ON SPECIAL for $2.60 a pop - you'd have to say that was about as much excitement as we could tolerate in the one day and we happily and unanimously abandoned any thoughts of a walk. Like I said, all talk no action here today.
Have I mentioned how cold it is outside yet?
I think we are going to need a new mindset - otherwise we might become reclusive. We are in #Whistler. Winter is approaching. It's going to be cold. Deal with the reality. Although, I do think I need better gear. Have discovered on our journey east that my shoes take on water and that my waterproof jacket isn't waterproof anymore. Makes it all a bit uncomfortable jumping puddles and dodging downpours. Likewise for @Mac's shoes - his socks are soaking up the water, but on a brighter note his jacket is doing a better job at repelling water.
Sent proof of life for car starting, got some Intel on the neighbours and worked some magic on an outside drain
On the good news front:
- the car started perfectly - first time and @Mac let it have a little run in the carpark
- we received notification that our request for a postal vote has been processed and expected delivery date is October 7 - we are interested to see how this process plays out
- only stairs we needed to master today were internal at home and a flight at the bottle shop to stock up on supplies - neither proved to be any bother at all
Happy fabulous birthday to @Loraine, enjoying her family celebration tonight and getting excited as she counts down to her beachside weeklong party with her nearest and dearest.
Asked today if we are "homesick" - have to say the answer is NO. Technology is fabulous and helps to bridge that distance gap. Can always be in touch and we are certainly feeling the love and WARMTH from home. Queensland is certainly soaking up those glorious pre-summer days.
PS: Acknowledging, I mentioned how cold it is outside. That's settled. Laughing, cause @Mac has been commenting to the Maritime coast dwellers who deal with minus 30 in their winters, that his "tolerance" for cold is about 10 degrees positive. He is officially "cold." But that is why we are here - to experience something that is different. How much fun would it be if it SNOWED!!!! Fingers crossed.
Saturday and Sunday are promising
PPS Isn't it funny how little things trigger memories. Having some #Mentos today. It was the "sweet of choice" for our recent #African Safari. Had to reach out and say "hi" to the group. Don't mind saying that the #South African and #New Zealand rugby crowd were "gloating." Think #Australia is in a "rebuilding" phase.
Meanwhile in Europe 🇪🇺 with @M&I
Continuing to enjoy #Venice and absolutely committed to these "beat the crowds" tours. Been enjoying close up views without the press of peak hour summer crowds. Today's highlight was the 14th century Doge's Palace for a little glimpse at some European decadence. Caught up on a bookshop with a difference, took a farewell Gondola ride and then packed up to head to Stockholm.
Savouring the best views - all to yourself
Took a little tour of an unusual bookshop - self-proclaimed as the "Most beautiful in the world" - all the books are in "floatable" displays
Waiting in the lounge (eat, eat, eat) for the flight to Stockholm and @Linda
