Big responsibility today was to get the rubbish to Nesters and then to water the gardens. No worries, we nailed it. Found the perfect balance between doing the chores of the "local" and the exploration of "tourist."
Surely earned extra brownie points because we sorted and recycled AND made new friends at the apartment and offered to water their plants as well - felt it was the "neighbourly" thing to do.
Travelled south a mere 8 kms today to take in Creekside. @Crispin had made us curious because he shared its story on our walk yesterday. Did have to make a detour at Nestors to drop off the rubbish. Interesting, that if rubbish is a "problem" for you, there is an enterprising community service that can help you out.
Hmm. #Creekside. For us today, a very sleepy little access to the mountain. Lots of accommodation, a marketplace and bottle shop, rentals, knick knacks, a couple of dress shops and only two choices for our hot date for Friday lunch. Nothing like #Whistler just 4 kms up the road. No doubt, its two lifts are packed at peak times in the season.
We pulled up a pew on the outside patio of #Dusty's, right at the entrance to the chairs and the exit from the mountain. Enjoyed our lunch with views of the downhill dare devils on their final skidding loop and jump on their return. So much dirt and dust and so much safety gear: helmets, back and chest protectors, gloves, elbow and wrist guards and knee pads. And the kid riders seemed to have bikes that were so much bigger than they were. Had one rider join us at #Dusty's covered in dirt and streaming blood from his arm and elbow. He definitely would have welcomed the oversized cups of water they offered here.
Confessing that I was tempted by a little cut off "cardy" that I saw on the marked down rack outside one of the boutiques. Thought it might have been a @Mindy thing - until I saw its reduced price at $769 CAD!!!! 😲 OMG. Rejected that in a heartbeat. And just saying- groceries, fresh fruit and veggies, deli items like cheese and ham and bacon and meat - all very expensive. Salmon today was $50 CAD a kilo, our little treat packet of Mint Oreos was $6 CAD as was the can of condensed milk for our coffee! I just keep shaking my head but @Mac just says "If you want it, have it!" Starting to agree with @Mindy - it's almost cheaper to eat out!
Did top up the groceries and included some fresh 🌶 🌶 🌶 for our home-made pho tonight. Hottest little red devils we've had for a while but again, thoroughly enjoying the challenge of creating here having to work our way through different brands and limited availability of some lines.
Had our sleeves on today under hazy and sometimes overcast skies. Tomorrow 30+ again - hard to keep up with the changes in the temps.
PS: @Mac has discovered #Spotify on GoogleHome and has had a constant string of Led Zeppelin, The Hollys, Doors, Rolling Stones, The Carpenters and Deep Purple filling the house. He keeps saying "Google volume up" and I come in with the opposite. Hope @Mindy and @Ian appreciate the modification of their profile that must be happening! #old_school
Meanwhile in 🇪🇺 with @M&I
We were getting messages at 5:45 a.m. Athens time and then at 1:00 a.m the following day - so do think they are making the most of the daylight and night time hours.
I had shared that I was an @Aphrodite fan and to keep their eyes peeled. No photos sent our way of the beauty herself - but did get two special features: @Aphrodite's treasure and a Lego model. So close.
And from their Instagram account visual confirmation that the press duds were a winner - oh, and they obviously caught up with their postponed tour and getting acquainted with some ancient history.
