No, we haven't been arrested, nor are we trying to rival @Donald. Just part of the hilarity of finalising our accommodation booking.
We did frown a little when the request came through for "foreign travellers" (and we have been trying so hard to be locals) to send a "selfie" with their passport as confirmation of ID. We couldn't resist a shot that included @Mindy and @Ian's year-round Christmas wreath. Not sure what the underlying meaning was in the "owner's response" - think we may have got a laugh out of our mugshots with his simple "Thank you. Well received."
I bet they can't wait 🤪 to meet us in person
Finalised the bus booking for our trek to #Vancouver and yes, scored ourselves some accommodation in #Toronto. Need to start sussing out temps on the east coast and maybe start thinking about packing. @Mac doesn't have a countdown visible for me here so not motivated or panicked at the moment. Maybe he can set something up on #GoogleHome.
A bit relieved that bookings were finalised because we have had our three cards refused in online transactions for both our bus bookings and accommodation. The cards were declined as a direct transaction for a #Visa card - but when we used the exact card through #GoogleWallet it was accepted. Go figure. Don't understand it - but at least we have a solution.
Have declared Mondays to be "home catchup day." Tackled the laundry, watered the garden, cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed and washed floors. Feels like home.
Followed that with a bit of neighbourly chatting with @Lyn and got the run down on the tenants and the development of the complex since 1968. Interesting insights actually and lots of laws, by-laws, rules and regulations. Scored an invitation to enjoy the sunshine on their deck at any time. To be serious though, it is still so warm during the daylight hours, glad to have the shade.
Trying to improve our knowledge of the little critters that dart up and down and around the trees while we sit on the porch. Apparently, the identification trick is all in the stripes and their positioning. We have no chance of working out if they are a tree squirrel, ground squirrel or chipmunk - they never sit still long enough to see their stripes. We've decided they are all going to be chipmunks. They are very entertaining.
Spotted this in the garden today. Definitely not going to try adding it to any meals! Thinking if the chipmunks don't want it, neither do we.
Going to run the gauntlet tomorrow and risk the wildlife. Need to stock up on some essentials. Don't want the Birthday Boy worrying about his stash of #Bundy that he left behind.
A dry argument
PS: The danger continues to be real. Maybe I was justified in jumping with fright and pulling @Mac over. There's a COUGAR prowling the Green Lake precinct. The recommendation is that you carry bear spray! No wonder everyone has a backpack here - by the time you load up with your lumber, bear spray and a bell - and stay hydrated in the heat wave conditions - you need to be a pack horse. We need a new lake for our walks.
PPS: I want to acknowledge that there are a lot of times in the day when it all goes according to plan for @Mac. But there is usually one #GoogleHome interaction in the day that sets me off. Today it was a genuine attempt to make the volume pleasant for me. @Mac confidently called "Google music down" to which the response came "According to Wikipedia, music downloads are ........ " and it went on and on forever. He followed this up with "Google volume down" and for some reason the music then was inaudible. Third attempt was a very uncharacteristic but very colourful expletive from @Mac. I'd lost the plot by this stage. And have no idea how the fourth attempt went - but the #BeeGees were now pleasantly audible.
I am a little worried because at dinner, I was sharing some of the stories around the evolution of the ducks at the #Peak Express and @Mac's contribution was "Yes, when I was talking to #Google, I noticed @Mindy and @Ian have one." I now have visions of him conversing quietly in the corner with #Google!
PPPS: Finishing the night EXTRAVAGANTLY with coffee and a Mint #Oreo on the porch. Thought a BEAR was coming ... turned out to be a few spots of rain falling.
Meanwhile in the 🇪🇺 with @M&I
What a way to celebrate your birthday! @Ian and @Mindy escaped to the net of the boat for a sleep put because it is all just way too hot. Meant the Birthday Boy woke to stunning unfettered views of his Mediterranean seascape. Happy birthday @Ian.
Time for presents, food and a swim or two or three or possibly 4.
Apparently, the go is that the boat docks of an evening (they have mentioned #Hydra, #Mandrakia and #Ermioni ) and they sail for 2-4 hours in the day, stopping for swimming time and often meet ups with other boats.
